Some days I like it, other days not so much
It's changed since I first became a nurse. It's a much harder job now. Too many litigious know-it-all ingrates.

    4. Ultimate goal is to be able to stay home with my little girl (and any other kiddos that come along) - a lot of my motivation for this whole journey is to get my PT certificate.

5... Love what I do, hate where I work.
Administration sucks- I'd love to see them work the floor, and THEN try to tell us what we're doing wrong. I sometimes wonder if the stress is really worth it. :noway:

    1. What do you do? - System Support Specialist
    2. How long have you been doin' it? - 10 years (current job 2 years)

I love my job. Something different comes up almost daily so its not the same thing over and over though the reporting I do is. I help fix user problems from the simple (my mouse isnt working) to medium (why cant i log into the cognos site) to the hard (im a domain admin and cant install updates on the server, wtf?!?!?!?!)

my biggest complaint is procedures. personal life im not about following guidelines, but when at work i adhere to them as much as i can and people get testy when i ask them to be sure to submit a ticket. I am not the only one in my dept so the other guy can answer your question to. there is no need to email me directly, call me and stop me in a hallway with your question about what font do i think you should use.

My last job i was the only IT guy for a small staffing firm and i despised the people i worked for. you want to talk about shady scummy people who had no morals and it would be them. i left there to take less money to be here and it was probably the best decision of my life.

That decision also helped me with my weight loss as i am no where near as stressed/depressed cause of work.

    2. 8
    3. 4 - I kind of rock at my job, but am ready for the next step and too scared to take it
    4. I LOVE my clients. My financial advisors is really another story, they are not always the nicest, easiest people to deal with and might be able to sell an empty shoe box but really suck at the normal day to day office things. I'm really just ready to move on....

    2. 7 Years
    3. 10
    4. I work from home. Free trips to Cali. What else could a person want?
  • That's the question of the year. I was like you just out of college, worked as a GD part-time for 6 years before I had kids. Hated, hated, hated it. People have no clue what it takes for a graphic designer to figure out what the client 'sees' in their mind.

I set out to get fit in hopes that maybe I can do something in the fitness industry. I work really well with people, and am told that I am great as a motivator, so fingers crossed.

    1. What do you do? Research Nurse
    2. How long have you been doin' it? 24 years, 7 years in this particular specialty
    3. How do you feel about it, generally, on a scale of hate to love (-10 to 10) 11
    4. Other comments, complaints, suggestions
Plus: Flex hours, occasional trips to cool cities, the pay's OK, state pension, great coworkers, I set my schedule, no one really knows exactly what I do (so everyone thinks the job is difficult, I don't know why), fairly easy to find other research jobs once you have experience, I get to work with both adults and children
Minus: No one really knows exactly what I do (so when I have to be off for an extended period, it can be difficult to have someone cover for me), sometimes results in odd hours, the workload is sometimes very heavy and sometimes there is almost nothing, plus I am on call pretty much 24/7/365 in case of emergencies...though in this particular job, I get maybe a call every six months.

    1) Emergency RN
    2) 4 Years
    3) Most days I love it (it's exciting, rewarding, ever-changing). . . but we see some gruesome stuff, and sometimes I just don't have enough time/pairs of hands to do the job to the caliber that I would like. That makes it incredibly stressful some days. Let's call it a +7 on the -10 to +10 scale.
    4) Some days I wish I had a completely unimportant job. One where I can have an "off-day" and that would be inconsequential. My hubby often drops me off at work and says "now go save lives!". Some days I just don't want to have to be a life saver!

    2. Almost 2 years at my current hotel, but just about 10 years experience.
    3. 9 Love my job, I get to meet all kinds of people and travel on occasion. I actually am getting to meet some WWII veterans this weekend, some of them were held in a concentration camp before being rescued by German fighter pilots who didn't agree with Hitler.
    4. My co-workers. Some of them aren't too bright, and they can't follow simple directions and often mess things up resulting in me having to answer the phone at 3am.
