My plea.

I keep reading all these post on MFP and post after post contains so many personal attacks. I am not just talking about my own post, but almost EVERY single post. Why my friends? Isn't their enough ugliness, hate, and cruelness around. Why create more? People join this website to make friends and be encourage. You don't know what they may or may not be facing. Just "turn away" if you don't like what they have to say. And if you can't, well attack me instead. I will even give you all the ammunition you need. Let's see... I have big ears, a big nose, I am not that attractive, I am short (5'8), and I cant spell or type. And that's just the physical. Before I came to Christ I was a drunk, a porn/sex addict, a thief, a liar, I slept with married women, and my sin led to my own child passing with me never even seeing her. Pick any of that you want and attack away. I won't be hurt and I won't get angry. I will love you and I will pray blessings over you. But as you do these things think about this. Anger, cruelty and sarcasm just lead to bitterness. Bitterness is a black-hole. Want to know how many marriages I have seen destroyed because one of the couple is constantly sarcastic? Is it not so much better to love, and to lift up? Jesus said what you do to the least of my children you do to me. Think about that.

I've said what i came to say. It's my plea that the fighting and ugliness stop. If it cant stop just aim it toward me.

Ed-I've taken to avoiding the boards for the most part because of the ignorance and cruelty. Your posts are uplifting and bring a sense of peace. You are encouraging and always bring a smile. Thank you.

I'll continue to avoid most forum threads because many people tend to be overcritical and downers. I realize that not everyone is in a good place, but if not, just don't post. We don't need ANY more negativity here. Just as the song Ed posted-everyone is shouldering as much as they can bear and it is impossible for anyone else to understand, but the negativity really hurts others.

Thanks Ed, for showing us what a person can be.

ps-I apologize for my own negativity and cynicism.

Hello Ed,

Thank you for sharing. We are hear to encourage each other. I'm part of a Thread that is nothing put positive and it's important to be around people who will lift you up and not bring you down. I pray that you find a group of people or maybe you can start a thread that is going to be for those of us who just need encouragement and nothing else.

Agreed. This week I haven't seen so much of it but I know in the recent past there have been groups of people who've certainly got on everyone and everything said here. And I see many many posts asking for people to stop the madness. It is unfortunate people are so aggressive when this site is built for those who want to get healthier and we are all here for that reason.

I may not always reply to your posts but I read a lot of them and I enjoy what you say!

I've been pretty fortunate since I've been on this site since August 09 and have never seen any of the things you guys are saying. (I better examine myself and make sure it isn't me!!) :laugh:

Every thread I've been on has a great bunch of people, so I just wanted to encourage someone that we aren't all bad!! :bigsmile:

I belive that we are all on here for one reason and that is to get healthy and make the best out of our lifes..You said it very well and I thank you for that..as you said we are not in the other persons shoes and you dont know what they maybe going thru..they could be a normal, just trying to get healthy person or it could be a person that has a depression issue and a persons weight does not help ..I would hate to think that I sent a depressed person over the edge by making negitive comments to them..So I say the next time a person reads something if they have nothing positive to say about it..then just keep your thought to yourself..Treat others as you want to be treated.. Thanks again Ed for your post!!! I also belive that there needs to be NO attacks toward you also!! You are a guy who made wrong choices in life but has found the real reason of life and have moved on..If you can show me one person on here that has never made a mistake or a wrong decision, I would love to meet them..but I am not holding my breath on that note..I want to keep breathing and living!
