So after eating way too little calories for too long, I decided I wanted to start eating AT LEAST my BMR. I continuously lost about 2 pounds a week eating around 1200 calories for quite some time. So this week I thought I would try to eat around 1400 calories.(my BMR is 1474) So I did. And I gained half a pound. Keep in mind that I also ran about 3-4 miles on the treadmill everyday, and also did some strength training. Every single day I had a deficit, so how the heck did I gain?! Should I just give it another week and see what happens?

What is your height and weight?
1400 still feels low for 3-4 miles a day of running.

I am a female, 5'6", and I currently weigh 132 pounds. I just want to get to 130 and I feel like I'm only getting further and further away...0

It will take your body some time to adjust to increased cals, but your body should start to let go of the fat once it knows it will be fed a normal amount of food and wont be starved. The weight training might also be to blame for you weight gain since muscle retain water to repair. I wouldn't be worried about a half pound gain anyways. I tend to fluctuate around 3lbs so I barely weigh myself anymore, I just measure.0

I have heard that as well, from books, or posts online.. that your body has been in starvation mode for a while.. and what happens is that it will attach itself to the extra fat/cals because it things you are "starving" and needs to save it... so the first week or two, although it is scary, you will go up half or even 1 pound... but after that you should drop quickly once your body gets running properly.0

Thanks for this topic!! I started lifting weights for one whole week and found myself gaining four pounds. I was crushed last Friday when I stepped on the scale. Although I am fearful of what the scale will tell me tomorrow morning, I have since stopped lifting and focusing only on cardio and I am feeling great.0

What strength training do you do? I bet if you switched things up a little it would work.. Its funny I did that and I lost a couple of
lbs but when I went back to more cardio I started to put them back on.0
