Good Morning MFPer's!
Currently I am 34 years old, and a few years ago I took acne medication (Accutane) that altered my system in producing oil. I literally don't produce ANY oil now.
(List of side effects and how it has affected me: http://kelieskorner.com/2013/04/30/accutane-long-term-effects/ )
Sad thing is, my joints arn't as fluid as they used to be. I take Flexamin and it eases it some, but if I get to really moving around a lot, it begins to kill me.
So my question is this, what else can I do to ease joint pain and make my knees and back more fluid?

make and drink bone broth! use it in soups and stews as well to get a healthy dose of gelatin, glucosamine and chondroitin - exactly the same things you'd get in expensive supplements, but bone broths are crazy inexpensive to make - bordering on free. you just use the bones from your chicken. (yeah, buy bone-in chicken. it's cheaper AND you can then make broth, huge money saver)
I wrote a blog post about it. great way to save yourself money and deal with all those aches and pains

I was watching the doctors program....They suggested you take turmeric to ease joint pain....0

Bromelain (pineapple plant extract) is great for reducing inflammation, swelling, scarring, etc. in joints and connective tissue--just make sure you take it on an empty stomach to maximize absorption. The spice, Turmeric is a GREAT over all anti-inflammatory (with no side effects)--it is very good for you. May even ward off Alzheimer's and colon cancer (East Indians have a very low rate of colon cancer and they use a lot of turmeric in their curries). Sometimes you can get them together in a combination product but I take them separately. I take a standardized extract of turmeric.
I agree with Coach Reddy about the bone broth. I take supplements of egg shell membrane and glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM for the convenience but I'm thinking of stewing up my own bone broth.
I also take 5,000 units of Vitamin D per day and also K2 (you need it if you are taking high doses of Vitamin D). Vitamin D helps to down-regulate the immune system when it is hyperactive (which it is in auto-immune disease like arthritis). It is thought by researchers that one way of combating auto-immune conditions (arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, M.S., etc.) is to make sure that our Vitamin D status is where it should be. Which, in cold climates, requires supplementation. Your doctor can perform a blood test to see if your levels of D are optimized. Most people are deficient. Try to get some sun--without sunscreen (sunscreen blocks the skin's ability to manufacture Vitamin D from sunlight).0
