Not Sure the best spot to put this didn't really think it was a success story. Arg after typing this started seeing all these alcohol threads I could had just replied in. Sorry!
Now I've only hit one week and while that's a very small milestone but I'm extremely proud of myself. Last Sunday I stopped and bought a bottle of vodka and cranberry juice. The bottle is unopened sitting on my shelf.
I used to think I was an alcoholic and at times I'm sure I drank entirely too much but the last week I was drinking 1/2 a bottle of liquor a night! When I went to throw my garbage away my Landlord (I sublet a room) had filled a trashcan with beer cans. There must had been 150-200 beer cans in there.
I saw how she was and decided right then and there I wouldn't drink by myself anymore. I'm only going to drink socially if at all. One thing I've done to curve the cravings for alcohol is drink Tea. I've became a HUGE tea drinker and it helps me relax and I don't even think about alcohol.
I've tried doing this before in the past and have failed miserably but I'd say since some VERY emotional times this is the longest I've gone without a drink and oddly enough I FEEL GREAT!

Good job. I've been alcohol free for 14.5 years. For me, it was an all or nothing. I tried things like "I'll only drink socially, or "I'll only drink beer", or "I'll only drink on the weekends". Failed in all of those. Going sober is what worked and I have no regrets. Good luck to you.0
