Amend your MFP calorie goal in line with TDEE calculator?

A lot/all of us when signing up to MFP have been given calorie goals that are under a healthy range. Isn't it more sensible to use a Total Daily Energy Expenditure(TDEE) calculator ( e.g.: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html ) and then calculate our TDEE minus 15/20% and then set THAT number as our daily calorie goal?
Also, everyone needs to remember to recalculate their TDEE and calorie goal with deficit every time they register a new body weight or begin a new fitness regime as TDEE changes according to how much you weigh as well as how active you are.
MFP set my daily calorie goal at 1200 which is too low for me, even at TDEE minus 20% and I know many others have struggled to stick to their calorie goals because they are too low.
