This and New Rules Of Lifting For Women.
Having said that you don't need to spend money on books as a beginner, you can get more than enough from articles:

You will miss out on alot if you just read articles. Most you read on the internet are crap anyway. Get the book.0

Really, like what? The fact that you even said that shows your inability to research and separate the good from the bad.
Why do I need to spend $100 on a book on strength and conditioning when all I want to do is get in better shape right now? If I want to be become a trainer and specialise in strength and conditioning, then I'll spend $100 on a book. If you are spending $100 that teaches you how to squat then you just wasted $100 because you can get that free online. Like I said, it's about finding the right sources. The sources I posted are very reliable.0 -
new rules of lifting for women...i got mine for $12 or $13 on amazon and that was one of the best investments i have made so far.
there are lots of programs on the internet for free just be careful and remember sometimes you get what you pay for. i love nrol4w because it gives a thorough explanation of the program and it is a 6 month system if you only do each stage once....i can easily see being able to use this book for way longer than that!0
