Pedometers

Does anyone know if there is a way to enter your daily steps (recorded by a pedometer) into MFP in the exercise tab? If so, does it adjust your calories, etc in the food diary?

If you have a fitbit, you can link your accounts. There are some other 'smart' pedometers that will link also. They all will adjust your calorie count, I believe.
For 'dumb' pedometers you could enter a new element to track called 'steps', and enter the steps manually. However, it won't adjust your calories. To get a calorie adjustment, you'd have to figure out how long you were walking, and how fast, and then enter it as a cardio exercise.
2,000 steps is about a mile. So to find out how far you walked, just divide the steps by 2,000.
To estimate your speed, consider :
2.5 mph is a gentle stroll
3 mph is a pleasant pace, perhaps what you'd do walking a dog
3.5 mph is a brisk walk - enough to make you breath a little harder if you aren't very fit.
4 mph is a very brisk pace
4.5 mph is about as fast as most people can walk without breaking into a gentle jog.
Then to find out how long you walked total, divide distance by speed.
So let's say you did 12,000 steps in one day, and that you think you walk about 3 mph. 12,000 steps = 6 miles. At 3 mph, that's a total of 2 hours walking that day. So you could make a cardio diary entry for 120 minutes @ 3 mph to get a calorie adjustment.0 -
Thank you for sharing that info. That makes since when using a regular pedometer. Some of the people on here seem to have had some issues with the fitbit and syncing the info.0
