So i weighed myself on monday and i was 136lbs, this morning when i weighed myself it had shot up to 140lbs!

this week i have done circuits, spinning and kettlebell and have eating at my calorie deficit and i've drank a ton of water.

is this actually weight gain or is it something else?

Most likely glycogen being stored in the muscle from all the exercise or water weight from the water you've been drinking as well as the water needed to repair muscles from the exercise can be blamed for your increase on the scale.

The scale does NOT measure fat gain and loss, just the weight of everything including the fat. That's why I don't weigh myself often anymore...like once a month really...because daily and weekly fluctuations which are not changes in body fat make it look like we are doing something wrong when we are really not.

    I agree with Lyadeia.
Don't worry too much about spikes in your weight. Tracks trends only. If two weeks from now you have no improvement then reassess your approach.

4lbs of weight gain in 4 days? Sure, it's possible, due to water retention, glycogen stores, gut and bowel content.

4lbs of FAT gain in 4 days? Not likely, unless you ate 14,000 kcals more than you burned in that time.
