Any current or former DDRers out there?

A great game. Anyone? Whether you loved it and played it non-stop, hated it because you couldn't get the hang of it, just plain made fun of it because you thought it was absolutely ridiculous?

If you enjoyed it, favourite songs?

On my heavy cardio days, I incorporate DDR into the workout (I have the game on Ps2 still and use those super little soft mats that I hate and will one day trade in for a decent hard one). An hour or so gets a nice sweat for true!

    Oh and fave songs?

    (DDR Max 2)
    -AFRONOVA
    -Dive
    -End of the Century
    -Breakdown
    -Hysteria
    -Kind Lady
    -Burn

    (DDR Extreme 2)
    -Butterfly
    -Boom Boom Dollar
    -Cartoon Heroes
    -Beethoven

When I was in junior high and parts of high school my friends and I would flock to the mall to hang out because we all went to separate schools,we'd always go to the arcade for a few games of DDR before our movie started, I was pretty good at it but unfortunately it got to a point where the "DDR psychos" took over, they'd stay there from the time they got out of school until the mall closed so nobody else got an opportunity to play but they sure were fun to watch, super talented on that thing!

I forgot about 'takeovers' like that. It was a shame. That game will always have a place in my heart. ;)

I need to buy some more pads. Last time I looked for replacements, the current batch of foam filled pads had gone downhill. I could rock most of the songs on hard in my heyday.

Yep, I would burn over 500 calories a session usually and be dying and out of breath at the end of some of the more challenging songs.

I am the reason people make those home-brew "unbreakable" pads. It's one thing to see a 330 lb guy try DDR. It's another altogether to see him beat "Max 300". I swear I could be scored on the Richter scale.

I don't do it any more (don't have the time or the money to hit the arcade, and I will SHRED a soft pad), but I still have the soundtracks for at least 7 different versions. Makes for some good training music for short-burst exercises.

I use stepmania on the PC with a usb DDR mat, that way I can do any custom songs I want (assuming I can keep up with the BPM)

Didn't even know they made a Mario DDR. Barely read they made a Disney version. Mario and Luigi seem like they'd be fit for that kind of thing w/their quirky moves. Going to have to look it up now. :D

Always wanted to make one of those homemade hard platforms since my foam pad didn't cut it. Holy cow, Max 300? Yeah, never got that good enough. But loved more of the 'girly' songs. More nostalgia, shall we?

    Bumblebee
    Butterfly
    Dive
    Candy (vocal and non vocal)
    Pink Dinosaur
    Look to the Sky
    End of the Century
    Kick the Can
    Dead End
    Witch Doctor

    Just to name a few.

I actually lost 100lbs playing DDR! I miss playing it at the arcade so much, but I still have my cobalt flux pad and stepmania, so I get to play it plenty. Nothing beats the arcade though. :)

My older brother had DDR. When his friends came over with a other mat, we'd play for hours. I had so much fun. Also my ink e used to get plastered and try to play. Funny **** there
  • I had DDR Max for PlayStation. I really liked it and I used to play it all the time. My favorite song was Sandstorm. The only reason I quit playing is because about a year ago my PlayStation died and I never replaced it. ^_^

Aw! Similar thing happened with my PS2. Should probably stop by an arcade to see if the machines are still around. Used to hunt for them all the time. ^_^

I used to play it with my sons years ago. I loved it, but I wasn't as good at it as my sons were.

My favorite song was In The Navy by Captain Jack

I love love love DDR. I used to have a Red Octane dance mat for a PS2 version (Super Nova, I think?) that I really miss. I played the hell out of that game! I'd get really mad, though, because I could play so well on the mat and then suck in arcades when you have to wear shoes/hit the arrows harder with your feet. But it's fun anyway :)

Hadn't thought of this. For now though, listening to the song will have to suffice. That and reminiscing.

Glad DDR was able to touch so many people. We should just start up a fan club now. I could see it now...the DDR weight loss challenge with 'song/level challenges' and everything. :D

Back in the day, I played the hell outta that game. I could play on the hardest difficulty and sometimes I used two mats. Awesome, awesome memories...and lots of sweat! It was an awesome workout.
