This is an amazing resource for putting the sugar content of some popular liquids into focus:

Wow. Just, wow.

Sample: one coffee chain iced mocha drink = 41 oreo cookies in sugar.

How is that even possible? Yeesh....

That's a great article! Just shared it with my facebook friends. I hope some of them are enlightened! :) The article just makes me that much happier that I stopped indulging in such things.

Thanks for posting! It's amazing how much crap with no nutritional anything can build up in a can or styrofoam cup! The Krispy Kreme lemon sherbert is the one that blew my mind!
  • I used to drink several of the things on this list on a regular basis... no WONDER I got fat!!!

    Holy Cow!!

These kinds of things should have warning labels on them!

Caution: This beverage has more calories than a person should consume in an entire day
Caution: This beverage has more saturated fat than a person should consume in an entire week
Caution: This beverage has more sugar than a person should consume in an entire week

I bet most people who drink them have no idea how bad they really are!

I had the DQ Caramel MooLatte maybe three times the summer they came out and am disgusted this many years later that I once consumed that.

One note to the water we drink: The article mentions water bottle ingredients should have hydrogen & oxygen only on the list. I must add a note. Water that we drink from a bottle should be purified (hopefully more than twice) and should be noted as "remineralized" as well. Remineralizing the water is important. It is also a pricey thing for bottling companies (this is why a large # of them don't do it), but very important for your body. Cheers! :drinker:

I know...at my fave starbucks, one of the baristas goes to my gym. We were talking about one of their milkshake-whatever-coffee-drinks and he told me that there is the equivalent of 25 teaspoons of sugar in a small one. There was a woman behind me in line who had no idea! "oh my god! my kids drink those all the time!" (she said...her ignorance seems sort of weird, because they are crazy-super-duper sweet). Can you imagine taking a small cup of coffee and putting 25 sugars into it? Gaaaaaaah! There would be no room for coffee. The sweet tolerance that the food industry has built up in consumers is criminal...

I thought nothing could shock me, but I was shocked by the article. :noway:

good article, but I did not like the "Drink this instead" part - how about, instead of sugared water, drink tap water - instead of sugared tea, make your own. Seems like a big "duh" to me.

Definitely. My jaw was too far down on the floor to even get that far in the reading. I mean, I consider myself pretty educated on the whole "processed food is the devil!" front...but I was just amazed at how bad it was. Wow, just wow....
