People and Their Complicated Diets

I was just talking to this guy who was going on and on about his diet and none of it made sense to me. He eats 3000 calories a day but he doesn't actually count calories. He's cutting out nuts because they're too high in carbs (?!?). He drank soup broth for breakfast because his muscles need more salt. Something about a salt imbalance from sweating and headaches from losing weight too fast. (Maybe he's losing too fast then?)
Now, if this works for him, that's fine, but he's very opinionated and seems to snub the idea of tracking calories, etc. He has lost a lot of weight in about a year but imho maybe he'd probably do better with a more simplistic approach.
What do you guys think? Ever met people with "crazy" ideas about food and weight loss?

To each his or her own. I have to log my calories and exercise and weigh daily to maintain. It's like brushing my teeth. Good for him!
Some people think the first two phases of the plan I have been so successful on are crazy, but to be honest even though the creator said not to count calories, I did and continue to do so. In the first two phases, I ate more to get to mydaily minimum calories than I planned so it was good to know.0 -
