How to make carpet more slippery for a better work out.

I do a lot of dancing workouts, and other work outs that seem to always involve twisting and turning the body. My problem is the doggone carpet creates too much resistance and that creates ankle and knee pain from the resistance and the foot not turning smoothly. I need a good way to remove that friction that is created when turning like in a squat where you would step out and turn to the side then come up and turn back to the front for an example. I have tried a few things trying to make my shoes more slick, but nothing I have tried works. Any good ideas?

I workout barefoot on my carpet and works great. When I've tried to kickbox , zumba etc in shoes I had the same problem0

Anyway, I had that issue too. I found putting on really thin socks helped.0 -
I purchased a Lifeboard for doing exercise and yoga on my carpet because I needed more support as my carpet padding is too squishy. It's made of rigid plastic and is slightly larger than a yoga mat. It comes apart for easy storage. Something like that might work.0

I guess I should have added, I have tried it barefoot, and that did help some, but then my feet were killing me after. Hmmm.... that does make me think though, maybe they make some kind of slippery shoe. maybe I could try a pair of dress shoes? I guess it's worth a shot.0

Switch to hardwood,tile etc and wear socks, then poof you will be sliding everywhere0

Try the carpet sliders. I have them and they work pretty well - they don't fit over regular shoes or really big running sneakers. You need a slender profile sneaker as pictured.0 -
My zumba instructor told us once to put duct tape on the balls of your shoes to be able to pivot on carpet without hurting your knees.0

I'm a ballroom dancer with carpet throughout my home. I practice in dress socks (the slick nylon kind) on the carpet, works like a charm for all my turns.0

That's a great and cheap way to do it but then it's permanent or leaves all that sticky gunk on your shoes.0 -
depending on what you are doing you could get pieces of cardboard or paper. For example mountain climbers.0
