How is it that you can feel good knowing you lost weight, but when it hasn't budged in awhile you feel as if you've settled in the weight you are at and that you are still as heavy as you were months before????? I have 4 lbs left to my goal and 4.25ish inches.... I feel confident that I will lose the weight, but not the inches :( This makes me want to shoot for a lower weight loss goal of 118 instead of 122, but honestly I feel like I was TOO skinny in old pictures when I was 118.... ugh IDK, maybe it's just all the lose belly fat, lol, I can't tell whether it is going away a little as my weight loss has gotten slower, or if I'm doing something different that is "filling out" the lose fat....

You've done a great job. I'm not sure what type of workout you are using?
  • I'm sure that's the issue, I haven't been working out, I've only changed my eating habits.. It's hard to work out when you work full time, have courses and half 2 children :(

You really might need to find a bit of time to incorporate some exercise in your day. The thing is, when you don't work your muscles, you lose more lean body mass along with fat; exercise, especially weight-bearing exercise, helps retain lean body mass (which also helps raise your metabolism slightly). Generally, when no exercise is performed, this leaves people with an aesthetic that they don't like, even if they reach a healthy goal weight (the so-called "skinny-fat" look).

You might get the results and look you're hoping for more easily with a bit of a workout. It doesn't have to be long. Look up HIIT exercises (lots available free online) - you can get a fantastic cardio workout that also incorporates body weight exercises in 10-20 minutes with minimal or no equipment. I've heard good things about "You Are Your Own Gym" (book) too, lots of ideas for working your muscles, at home, with no equipment.

You could try doing some of the challenges listed here or look up some challenges on pinterest to do :) 30 day shred (Jillian Michaels) is a pretty popular one.

I feel like I'm in the same boat but with much more to lose. I've done most of the work by switching my eating habits but I stopped losing weight - my body needs me to start working it out! Just gotta put aside 30 minutes for yourself, or take the kids with you, to get started. A little walk through the neighborhood, chasing them around a park, dancing in the house (I love that one - and holding a child? weight training!!).

WE CAN DO IT!! :) And thankfully we have this community for additional support :)
  • I bought Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and did it for a week but then I had surgery and just haven't had the motivation to begin it again. Not only that but I have narcolepsy so I'm ALWAYS tired :(. And kids are definitely good weight training, lol, my youngest will be 2 in August and he weighs 33 lbs and my oldest (will be 4 in September) weighs 35 lbs....lol...So because of which my arms are toned but bulky :(
