TDEE -5% has worked for me......MFP's "maintenance " made me gain!! Then I switched........ I love this site , BUT, dig deeper into the group "In Place Of A Road Map" short and sweet version.... (simplest)

I'm not there yet but when I do (not if I do) I will keep tracking and continue the exercise - not as much but enough to maintain - prob 3/4 sessions. Goodluck

I've been on maintenance for four months. I'm doing exactly the same thing I did to lose weight: log everything and exercise moderately. I'm just doing it with an extra 400 calories.

I have been on maintenance since July 2012. I still counted calories until November and then I realized that I wasn't eating enough so I stopped counting. Stayed the same weight until about a month ago and I am slowly gaining. I am now back to counting calories. I think it is a balancing game. I always weigh myself on a daily to every other day basis so nothing will be a surprise to me. I listen to my body. When I eat bad I know I am eating bad. I am going to start back running again because it helps me stay focused. My best advice is stay true to maintenance, balance it out. Have fun but don't go overboard and when you feel you are teetering off the bandwagon get back on with full force. Good luck!

Log your food and share it. There's enough virtual butt kicking on here to keep you on track. You also have to make it a lifestyle. Otherwise one bad day and you'll give up.

That's classic. Yes, virtual butt kicking is what will do it...thanks. Agreed w lifestyle point!

If your last deficit was moderate, gradually increase calories to maintenance. If it was slight, eat at maintenance. Continue logging and tracking so you don't wonder why something happened and have nothing to look over that might explain it.

Continue lifting weights (or start if you haven't been lifting) using "progressive resistance" so if your metabolism is a bit sluggish from a prolonged calorie deficit some of any surplus will go towards lean mass instead of fat.

Keep adjusting until you find the right balance and your body/metabolism has normalised.

If weight loss was your primary goal, do you have a new goal you want to achieve (possibly based on exercise you were doing whilst losing weight)? Without the stress of a calorie deficit your body will probably respond better now to training. Are there any activities you were putting off until you reached your goal weight?
