Metal vs. Vinyl/Concrete Dumbells

I'm looking for an inexpensive dumbell set so I can up the weight as I progress through JMBR, after which I plan to start Chalean Extreme. I found two sets of Golds Gym adjustable Dumbells online, both of which are carried in my local Walmart. One is metal, and the other (a bit cheaper) is vinyl and concrete. Someone had a lot of bad things to say about the concrete dumbells in the Chalean reviews, so I'm curious to know what others think. I have no problem paying a little more for metal if they're better. I'll only be using them with my workout DVDs as part of my ongoing toning, so nothing too crazy.

The only thing i have to say is that i bought some what i assume are vinyl/concrete ones.. and now they have a rattle where some of the 'weight' inside has broken. That is annoying, but if you can get over the possibility that it will happen and if there significantly cheaper get them0
