Hello, My name is Chloe and i just turned 20, I've always been the " fat girl " always, it's always been the purple rabbit in the room and Now i'm conforting this rabbit, Not only because I know i can lose weight i have before, But because Now it's a medical reason. I've always connected losing weight with not happening in my home surroundings, One i can't afford to go away again Two i need to learn to be comfortable doing the things i did when i wasn't home at home. and Three this year i was diagnosed with Pcos (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ) and a slow moving thyroid, and possiable diabetes. So now this is a serious issuse and it's time to kill the rabbit :D. Plus i'm tried of shopping in that plus size section and paying the extra price for a few extra yards of material. I want to wear my size 14 jeans that have been hiding in the bottum draw of my dresser for almost 2 years now. Soo after much thought tomorrow will be my start day. 5-24-2010 i'm starting my special k diet. also going to be walking with a friend of mine every other day during the week, at different locations around town, also hoping to bring my ever soo love dog Murdock with me on some of those walks, As during the winter months he's gain a few extra none needed pounds. Soo wish me luck as this is yet another attemtped at getting my jeans back that WILL work i will not accpet failure!!

Welcome and congrats on the determination... I my self have PCOS... it sucks.. I however am almost 32. I am engaged to get married and want a familyl... well PCOS and being over weight kills that. SO I am happy to hear that you are starting young.. when I should have... Watch the carbs and sugars you eat.. and do small meals inbetween breakfast lunch and dinner, I am not sure what the DR's told you but I have been dealing with this for a while now and its MUCH harder for us, well people with PCOS to loose weight... SO ... eat healthy, lots of protein, not fatty ones, and Low fat high grain wheats. GOOD LUCH ON YOUR JOURNEY and if you need any food tips let me know

Congratulations on making a very good decision. I feel bad that your medical problems have pushed the decision, but it is still an excellent one! You go, woman!!
The thyroid issue--if you take meds for that (like I do), you will have to take them every day for the rest of your life.
Treat this new way of eating that way--Work toward eating right for a good long life where your cells get healthier and you feel better instead of worse.
You are 20 and still in pretty good shape for the shape you are in! ;) Exercise, plus cutting sugar, salt/sodium, and saturated fat from your diet will go a long way toward helping you lose your weight and keep your heart and circulatory system in good shape.
You have a really good attitude. There are good people on this site--many who have been where you are now.
They can answer questions that you have.
Best wishes and have fun with this new step in your life.

Congratulations on your new found motivation!

It's terrible that you are facing these terrible medical issues, but you should be so proud of yourself for wanting to do all that you can to improve your life :) You sound like you have a lot of determination to turn things around.

    Welcome, and good luck!

    PS - I <3 your rabbit metaphor!
