HUNGRIES VS MUNCHIES

I am trying to pay attention to when I'm feeling hungry and when I just feel like snacking.

It's actually the snack feeling that causes me more problems. I want to eat something even though I don't feel hunger pangs. Do you have this problem too? What do you do?

Do some self talk....ask yourself "Am I really hungry? do I feel a knawing in my stomach? or am I just feeling like snacking?" When I do this and answer myself truthfully...it helps
    best of luck!

I think that it's amazing progress just to know the difference! I'm still working on that one. Right now I'm trying to only eat when truly hungry. If you aren't really hungry, maybe try to distract yourself from whatever is triggering you to want a snack.

I used to do the same, but i find eating little and often helps rather than doing three big meals a day.

when I feel hungry I drink green tea without any sugar and sugar substitute. I wait 15 minutes and I still feel hungry I will eat a raw apple with 1 tsp of natural peanut butter.

My idea is: If I am not hungry to eat an apple. I am not hungry.

    Good luck in your journey

Thanks, BuffyEat2Live. I think distracting myself might help. I suspect it's an emotional trigger that has me walking toward the kitchen like a mindless zombie woman. I wonder if trying to figure out what the triggers are would help.

That's a good strategy socioseguro. I will try it. I like the idea of drinking green tea first to give the snacking urge time to pass. I could eat an apple with natural peanut butter 10 X a day tho. For me, that's like candy!! :) I might have to try celery or something instead.

I think you just have to take things one day at a time and try to distract yourself as much as possible. I have been trying to tackle this problem for quite some time too. A big trigger for me is boredom, when i am bored - i eat. Also, tv and movies are my triggers when i watch tv, i want to munch.
