I simply put, cannot stand pullups. I do not know what it is about that exercise that makes me want to not finish a workout.

I've had 2 back surgeries (2004 & 2008)...just recently talked my doctor into letting me get back into some strenuous exercise. I want to do stronglifts 5x5 (will probably start with 3x5 until I'm sure it won't bug my back too much), so I thought I'd start a bodyweight routine for a while to ensure I don't shock my system too bad when I get back to weights. I'm really just playing it safe, as I'm a bit scared of getting back into the gym (I use to be a regular alot of years up until about 2001-2).

So I've been doing a bodyweight circuit 3 times a week for about a month now. I'm making progress, I can do about 3, good form pullups, no kipping or swinging. I just can't stand them...they are the bane of my existence. Every workout, at about set 4 of 5, I get an overwhelming urge to stop at the pullups....I haven't yet, I've been taking a step back and telling myself..."it doesn't matter if you don't get all the reps, just give it your best shot"..

But damnit, I just hate hate hate them!

But they are so good for you! I used to struggle a lot but since I started stronglift, I tend to find them much easier. My shoulders feels much stronger and I don't suffer anymore the pain I used to get when doing pullups. I am not expert but keep at it and eventually they won't bother you that much
