Hey guys,

So for the past few days I haven't been able to get to the gym because I have been very busy. I plan to go back to routine tomorrow though. The other day I allowed myself, since I haven't for a very long time, to have a cheat meal which consisted of fried fish and some chips for Lunch, I didn't eat dinner so I could make room for the calories but I still feel terrible about it. Almost, I've been just eating maintenance calories (well actually a bit below at 1400 calories a day) and I feel so fat and disgusting. I usually eating about 1300 calories + exercise. I feel like my jeans are tighter etc but I don't understand how its possible to even put on weight in 3 days without eating excessively.

Just a rant I guess. Maybe I'm just haven't a fat day, I feel like a mess!

    You ate fried food with a high sodium content. It's probably water bloat. It will go away. There's no reason to feel guilty for enjoying something you love either.

    One day isn't going to ruin all your progress.
    3500 calories equals one pound of fat.

    You didn't eat 3500 extra calories during your cheat meal and probably had a lot of sodium like the above poster said.
    It's water weight.
    It ain't that serious.

    Go on and enjoy your life.

    Sodium = water retention. Drink more water.

    Does drinking water in the form of black tea count?

    You are just bloated. 1400 calories is most likely still a deficit that means you would lose close to 1lb a week. I'd be very surprised if that's your maintenance calories. To work out your true maintenance calories, use this calculator;
    http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/
    You need to drink lots of water and try to eat low carb if you are still feeling bloated tomorrow and that should solve the problem.
    Also, I found a pretty good exercise for it over at www.blogilates.com called Food Baby. It's about 11 minutes and it doesn't help eliminate the bloat!

    Edit: And even if you did eat fish and chips, if you fit it into your calories for the day then it isn't going to have made you gain any weight.

    Yes, of course. It's just flavored water.

    Don't beat yourself up over one meal that wasn't ideal. You don't have to be perfect all the time to lose weight or to be healthy.

    My doctor told me that any liquid can count towards water goals. So I think tea, coffee, juice, milk, etc all count since they are high water content. Of course they do have calories, some only minimal, so I track them to be safe.
