Pedometer and Heart Rate Monitor use

Hi there! I just bought a pedometer and think I must have made a mistake. Maybe I should have bought a HRM instead? Is there a reason to use both?

I do want to know how many calories I'm burning when I'm taking walks or rambles in the woods; something I think the pedometer should do. But I'd also like to check the accuracy of the calories burned on my elliptical with what the machine gives me...seems as I'm reading the instructions like the pedometer isn't so great with this...?

Does anyone have experience they could share on using either or both??

Thanks! RK

There are a few HRM with pedometers as a feature. I don't know where you're from, but Wal Mart has one by Sportline that is $40. There are other too, some cheaper, some more expensive.

I would go with a the HRM... I got mine yesterday, and I love it!

A pedometer's main function is to measure the steps you take during a walk/run. If that is the infomation that you are after, well you have the proper device.

If how many steps you take during the day or during an exercise is not important to you, then you will want to get a Heart rate monitor to measure your calories burned to and to do so more accurately.
