Knee Injury?

Hi all. I was working in my garden for the majority of last week, constantly bending down, pulling weeds, then getting back up, etc. At some point when I squatted down, something in the back of my knee felt like it popped and then it felt like I had been stung by a bee for a minute - which is originally what I thought happened. I looked behind my knee for a bump or something, but nothing was there, so I just let it go.
Well, as the week continued, I noticed almost every time I would squat down or bend my knee around 90 degrees or more, the popping feeling would happen. It feels like something is popping out from the side of my knee, but not under my kneecap if that makes sense... It's not painful, but uncomfortable, and I'm worried I might injure myself further if I try doing squats or anything like I normally do in my workout routine. I've never felt anything like this in my knees before, though they do tend to "pop" every once in a while, it never felt like this. I'm trying not to strain it right now at all until I can either find out what's wrong or it goes away, but even just barely going down into a squat seems to cause it to do that weird popping thing. Walking normally doesn't seem to bother it at all, though.
The reason I am asking you guys here is because I honestly can't afford to go see my normal doctor or chiropractor right now, and I'm hoping maybe someone with previous or similar experience in this arena might have some advice for me. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read / respond! :flowerforyou:

I hate to say it, but if it doesn't get better you need to go see an orthopedist. Yeah, it's expensive. I went in thinking I could have a brace for running/it would heal on itself and came out needing an MRI and having an extra bone/tons of extra cartilage in my knee. If you actually rest it (as in NOTHING but walking. literally nothing) and ice it and it doesn't get better, it's likely that there is something wrong.0

Well, thank you for your reply - sorry to hear about your knee! I hope mine is not that bad... I am icing it and staying off of it for now. Hopefully it will get better on it's own but I won't hold my breath.0

Bump
I'm making sure to get in plenty of vitamin A, C, and D, since according to Livestrong's website those will help with rebuilding cartilage... Besides that, and resting / icing my knee, is there anything else I can do to help it heal?0 -
See a doc, period.0

Helpful, thanks. :P
But as I have stated, I cannot afford to see my doctor right now, hence the post. I realize there's likely not much I can do with advice online, but figured it's better than nothing, and I'm sure many of the people who use this site are active - so probably have a good share of their own experience with knee injuries.0
