Skin Issues

I have this strange rash. It started around my eyes and on my jaw line. It was the same color as my skin, but rough. The one on my face went away. Now there is a large spot on my hip bone and a couple smaller spots around there and on my legs, these spots have a the strange scaly texture as the one of my face, but it is also reddish. I just noticed another similar scaly spot on my shoulder, but it is the same color as my skin. These rashes do not itch at all. I put some neosporin on some of the spots and it seems to be helping. What could this be? Anyone ever had anything like this? Is it possible that it is caused by some nutritional deficiency? Thanks guys.

I've had something similar several times on my legs near my bikini line. My doc gave me a prescription for a cream that made it go away immediately. Not sure what caused it. I say check with your doc. Always best to have someone in the know take a look.

In general, skin needs sufficient hydration, but I don't know that the symptoms you describe are a result of dehydration. We also need a certain amount of fat in our diets for healthy skin. That is one of the reasons why fish oil supplements can help people with skin inflammations.
In your case, scaly rashes can be a result of more than one cause. Sometimes they are due to a fungal or bacterial infection, but not always. Since it is not itching, that would make an allergic reaction less of a likelihood.
I did a little internet searching, and would like to suggest you look at the following page and see if the symptoms sound like what you are experiencing:

It would be best to see a medical practitioner. If that isn't possible, some other things to consider are any recent changes to what you are consuming, food or supplements. Have you made any changes in cosmetics, moisturizers, shampoo or body washes? If you identify a change and eliminate it and the condition subsides, they could be related.
If it continues, seeking medical advice would be best. Good luck.0 -
Thanks so much guys! I might have to make it to a Doc as soon as I can afford it.0

You might try showing it to a local pharmacist. They may be able to point you in the right direction for an over the counter medication. However, if it is due to a bacterial or fungal infection you'd need a prescription.0

Have you been exercising and sweating alot? Possibly not changing right away after a workout? I was using one of those bands that is supposed to help you sweat more - and I recently noticed some lil rash too- I was told it may be ringworm because too much moisture and stuff. So that is just another thought. Cure- Make an appt with Dr and he can prescribe a medicine that will clear it up.
Don't know if that helps but hope you get better soon.0 -
I agree, you should have it looked at. I had something like this and a nurse at my church said it was ringworm. I went to the doctor & it's just a Vitamin D deficiency/eczema. I take Vitamin D and Cod Liver Oil everyday and try to eat certain foods from a list that are good for eczema (which means I have 2 types) and it seems to stay away. I also have a prescription cream my doctor gave me and if I get real desperate, I use that once or twice a day. Definitely get it checked out, it could be a number of things.0

Could be eczema. It is kind of random and usually patchy. I get it on my hands sometimes and experience cracking and watery bumps that tear if you scratch them and leak clear fluid. Sometimes it's red and gross looking, other times it's just really dry and scaly. The most effective solution I have found is lotion with Melaleuca, like Renew. Kind of pricey, but no RX required, and it's wonderful for moisturizing the whole body with no side effects.0

You don't get ringworm from just too much moisture, it is the actual fungal infection caused by dermatophytes, which are microscopic organisms that live on the dead outer layer of skin. A moist environment allows these little pests to cause the problem.0 -

Ok sorry - like I said I was just told that is what I MAY have had but I too was going to Dr. However the nurse simply expressed to me that the moisture from that band is not helping. This is why sometimes posting on here is no worth it.0 -
Chesire,
I was not trying to "correct" or criticize your prior post--just add some details for better understanding. I am glad you were able to resolve your problem. :flowerforyou:0
