Not enough calories???

Ok, so here's the deal.

I've lost almost 100 lbs and I did from eating right, less and exercising. As we all know, the heavier you are, the quicker it will come off - at first.

For the last year I've struggled to lose more. Recently, I've been really trying to lose and I do, but not always or very little. I strive to lose at least 1 lb a week and stay under my calorie goal not including workout calories. I workout just about everyday doing all kinds of different workout classes. I usually burn no less than 350 calories a day.

So here's my question. I have a friend on this site who weighs 10 lbs less than I. She doesn't exercise much if at all and eats around 1900 or more in calories a day. She is losing every week. In fact she went over her calorie goal just about everyday only worked out once and lost a lb. I lost 1/4, but ate less and worked out everyday but one. This has happened more than one week. She and I were discussing how she can lose more and I don't and we both question if I need to eat more?

Like I said, I don't eat my workout calories. Perhaps I should?

What do you guys think?

I'm not rushing to drop my weight quickly. I know the longer you do this, the harder it is. I have about 53 more lbs to reach my final goal and it may take me a year to do it. That's ok. I just don't want to run out of steam....

Thanks for your input!

Margit

MFP sets your calorie goal with a deficit. So if you said you want to lose 1 lb a week they take off 500ish calories to make that happen. If you don't eat back your exercise calories you're increasing that deficit, perhaps too much so. Maybe figure your BMR and TDEE and eat between them. Or if you stick with the MFP calculations eat back your exercise calories to keep your deficit reasonable.

I recommend eating at your BMR and then letting exercise create your deficit. Eating too few calories can really screw up your metabolism.

what you just posted would put her at eating too few calories...

To the OP - when trying to compare to someone else, there are too many variables to really compare apples to apples. I would suggest not worrying about your friend and making changes based on the results your body is getting - not based on what your friend's results are. It can be anything from differences in your bodies to how you log food to how much effort you put into exercise, water retention, etc. The list goes on and on.

Have you recalculated your goals lately?
