Gotta admit - this was a fascinating read. I didn't get to read all of it, but I'm going to come back and check it out some more.
As a new father of a baby girl, this is truly something I worry about - the ever-encroaching demand for perfection in advertisements like this. Honestly, I read what you do and I think, "You're the problem..." But I see what you're doing here and I respect it.
Thank you.0 -
I thank you OP I'm glad you point this out to the little girl's in your life. I try to do it with my little sisters or niece when I can. My question then to my fellow women is, and we may be a different sort on MFP, WHY DO WOMEN CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THESE LYING TRASH RAGS? Why do women have to be shown an obviously photo shopped unrealistic female to purchase underwear or makeup, why why why? Makes me disgusted all the years I spent wishing I had this certain body to fit into these certain clothes and all the while none of it was truth.0

CANT WAIT TO LOOK AT THIS LATER!!0

I love photoshop.
Portrait Professional is a free program you can get if you want to play with it on your own you can remove your pores, make your eyes pop, even change their color.
This is a GREAT thread. I try to pay no attention to images only to think of them as art since they aren't real.

THE STICKMAN
I hope those pantyhose come in regular length.
OMG her legs are enormous compared to everything else, she must be a size 20 shoe!

I'm laughing so hard, I have tears!!!!    :happy:0 -
Bumping - this is an amazing thread!0

This is awesome!
OP, you would be proud of my teenaged daughter, who is an artist herself. We were shopping in Victoria's Secret and she looked at one of the blown-up ads of a lingerie model and said "that is so annoying" and I said "why, because she is so sexualized?" and my daughter said "no, because it's so badly photoshopped! That shadow is all wrong!"
smart kiddo be proud mom0 -
love. this post!! thank you!!0

I knew I had a collection saved. Get ready for a storm of shocking Photoshops!
What's wrong with Gabby being dark skinned? This one always bothered me, she realy is cute on her own. And I think you'd be surprised how many people love that skin tone, its just such a beautiful color.

Someone asked about this photo
And IT's hard to tell when you don't know what their goal is in their presentation. But this is shopped. She seems smaller than in recent photos over the months, so that's warning #1. But take a peek behind her knee, the leg that's showing behind it, the designer messed up here, see the little sliver of leg that is supposed to be the back leg, it follows the front one, if that's her leg than it's huge back there. I think they took in the front leg and drew in the background, including the fat leg line.
I think they stretched her butt bigger too. Just from years of streching things it doesn't look normal, but I cant quite describe why. The pixels in the shadow where the bikini cuts into her side look repetitive.
Oh, and that's not a belly button lol.0 -

I want to thank everyone else finding bad shops, they really are everywhere you turn. Please keep sharing because I feel overwhelmed trying to find more in my spare time!!!
WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM
On Pinterest or any "Thinsperation" website you see this kind of image:
Right next to this kind of image:
It makes me want to bang my head against the wall. It simply isn't real.
Then you get the A**holes in the fitness industry, who are THE WORST about photoshopping, both low quality, and everywhere. Crunches won't get you that.

Lol anyone else read headlines about "how to get better abs" and answer in your head "photoshop?"
Good!0 -
#9 Measure proportions
If you went to art school you learned the 8 head rule. One of the favorite things for GA's to lengthen are necks, legs, arms, torsos, in that order.
When they mess with these, funny things happen like:
THE BOBBLE HEAD
They make the head bigger to make the body look smaller. (she has been slimmed, but of obvious note is her cleavage, completely drawn in from that angle)
THE PIN HEAD
By thinning the body and shrinking the head they can give a long slender look
THE STICKMAN
I hope those pantyhose come in regular length.0 -

Ah, here's another one that drives me crazy (can't fix the image tags, no idea why):
Do a Google image search on Mary-Louise Parker, and I defy anyone to recognize her as the woman in that picture.0 -
This is quite possibly the greatest thread ever. It should be stickied somewhere.0

I'll leave you with two more tonight. Young model Thylane Lena Rose Blondeau for some reason has to have 1/2 an inch shorn off her "fat" legs?
