Mixing water with powdered mixes

I cycle with a 70 ounce Camelbak. On my 20-30 mile rides I will go through half to 2/3 of it. From 40-58 miles I go through the whole thing. If I mix a powder for a 16 ounce beverage in it, will it severely cut the benefits or do I just need to make sure I drink the whole thing to get them all? Trying to save some money here, because dumping 4-5 powders in there can get pricey.

I'd think that it'd taste gross with only one in something that big. :) The benefits wouldn't change as long as you drank it all.

Don't add powders to your camelback! You can add a bit of salt but don't put anything that could feed bacteria.

I don't really understand the question, but I've ****ed up my camelback by putting other stuff in it other than water like juice... Honestly just get a water belt if the bottle isn't enough under the bike.

Not sure what the concern about bacteria is. I don't store drinks in the bladder and I do clean it out thoroughly and promptly when I get home. Since I can be a bit of a klutz, I like having the tube available to sip on rather than reaching down for the bottle.

Have been putting mixes in my water since I got it over 6 months ago and it still works like new. Not sure what the concern is there, either.

Lol I guess you are better about cleaning it. I've had some pretty insane swampiness.

Not sure, but it may void lifetime warranty.

Just looked over the website which says if you use it for something other than water to make sure you clean it thoroughly. I actually couldn't see any warranty info on the reservoir itself, just the valves and locks.

for reference, to save on money, i don't use full servings.

    my experience:

    electrolyte mixes:

vitalyte (1 scoop serving per 8 ounces)
I use 2 scoops in 32 ounces and love it. so, basically half dosage.

cytomax (1 scoop serving per 10-12 ounces)
I use 1 scoop per 32 ounces, and love it. it's actually pretty strong even at essentially 1/3. i can't imagine it full dose.

    energy:

    hammer gel (2 tablespoons serving)
Rather than use this straight, I add it to my water bottle (i had a bottle that could handle both at the same time, but realized i liked them mixed even more). I use 3 tablespoons (so, 1.5 servings) per 32 ounce water. I could probably up this to 4 for taste, but budgeting.

i buy all from REI (the hammer gel in the bigger bulk bottles). if i remember correctly, vitalyte is the cheapest per serving.
cytomax is 27 servings per canister, vitalyte is 80 (so, 40 at double dosage) but a couple bucks more expensive.

however, i only use waterbottles, so i can't speak towards bacteria, etc.

you're about double the water, so i'd probably add another scoop of each, maybe two scoops of vitalyte. try it with less, see if it works for you. add till you're happy.
