Anyone use a HRM and almost have a stroke when you saw the difference between the two devices?
i started doing 30 minutes on an arc trainer then 30 on the elliptical. the calories the machines said were 556 + 400 for a total burn of 956
Got a polar fit FT7 and between the two it was a total of 500

If the machines arent set up with your stats (age/weight/height) then you wont get an accurate reading... 60 mins of cardio is about 450 calories for me with my HRM so I would trust the HRM not those machines0

This is precisely why I refuse to eat more than 50% of my earned exercise cals ... am sure the gym machines are all lying to me. Doesn't help that I usually go "Quick start" and have the average burn displayed instead of doing the right thing and putting all my stats in ... I am way smaller than the average person using them. Meh!0

I had the opposite reaction I was happy with the fact that the machines read my calories way lower than my HRM.0

see, the machines were way higher than what my HRM said.
i input my stats into them and do the fat burning programs0
