Hey all!! So I started the Couch to 5k on Monday! I just have a question about rest days.. If I'm new to running how often should I be resting? My hips and shins are sore and my legs are stiff today! I really don't want to skip today but I don't want to damage the muscles I'm working so hard to build! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Just take a break and recover no need to hurt yourself. It gets easier once your body adapts to running.0

Follow the rest days built into the plan. If you need an extra one, take it.0

Ok great; thanks!! Do you's think I would be able to still workout and try to focus on my upper body? I'm not used to a rest day in the middle of the week and would still like to be able to get something in today!0

Do you mean can you still do your upper body strength training? Absolutely. Just let your body guide you on what you can do at what intensity.0

Sometimes ellipticals are good "rest". Less pressure on the legs and joints, but you still get the cardio in that you'll need with running. Just build up slowly and listen to your body. Running can be great fun!!0
