Background: I started at 210lbs, lost 30lbs in approximately a year, 25lbs in 6 months. Now weigh 180. I have been on 1750 - 1800 calories a day.
My weight loss has stagnated at 180 in the past couple of months. My goal weight is 170. Lately I have found that on the current number of calories I get very hungry and end up over eating.
MFP calculator tells me that in order to reach 170 by losing 1lb per week, I need to eat 1940 cals a day.
(In order to hit 170 on 1.5 lbs per week, i need to eat 1690 cals a day.)
How does this make sense? I was losing 1lb per week on 1750 -1800 for six months. Why would I have to go up to 1940? Wouldn't this make me gain weight? I'm reluctant to try it because i absoluely do not want to risk gaining.
Isn't it different if I am coming down from 210 rather than from 180? I heard that once you hit your target weight, your calories can increase in order to maintain. Is that what's happening?
Question: Should I go up to 1940 cals a day or reduce to 1690? For what reason?
Thanks
