TDEE and BMR?

Hi everyone,
Im relatively new to all this and was wondering if someone could help me...
What is TDEE and BMR and why do I need to know these??

    TDEE is how many calories you burn in your everyday life.

    BMR is what you'd burn if you did nothing all day. Basically if you were in a coma.

    It's true, though. BMR is basal metabolic rate, so it's the amount of energy you burn by just being alive - without moving a muscle; processes like breathing, your heart beating, thinking etc come into this.

    TDEE is total daily energy expenditure and it's just that - every ounce of energy you use in a day.

    Just to restate. It was not a joke. If you were in a coma the doctors would feed you through an IV using your BMR as a guideline for what your caloric needs would be to maintain basic organ function. You need to be eating at least your BMR.
