Cutting Carbs.. who knew?

OK, Maybe I'm exaggerating. Of course I know if you cut carbs you can loose weight. But I am NOT willing to go all South Beach, or even worse Adkins. I love my carbs and won't give them up. What I never noticed is that I was eating WAY too many. About 250 a day. I adjusted my setting in MFP to 150grams a day, which is doable for me. Instead of having a whole flat bread w/ peanut butter for breakfast I have half and the other half for lunch. I broke up w/ my BF- the banana.. and try to eat berries or other fruit w/ lower carbs. After being stagnant at about 8 pounds away from goal weight, I lost 2 pounds this week.

I love my carbs also but the atkins has been nothing BUT GREAT for me! They have lots of alternative "carb" ideas to help with the plan. I find that counting calories and doing the atkins approach really working. Congrats on your lost thus far.0

YAY! Glad you've found something that works! For me, I found that just by cutting out grains my carbs automatically dropped. I didn't go 'lower carb' on purpose - it just naturally occurred.0

That’s awesome and I'm a believer it really works!!
I was told by someone at my gym that I might have a carb intolerance when I plateaued for a month. I couldn't cut out carbs entirely either but I have cut back significantly on bread, cereal & pasta over the last week. I still enjoy fruits and if I do have a starchy carb I try to limit to one/day and preferably for breaky or lunch. I've been at this for just one week and already lost 3.5lbs! As much as I love bread I think this is what I have to do to get to my goal too.0 -
Damn water retention from carbs...0

I've been plateauing for about a month, so I'm eating 30-60 carbs a day on the 5:2 keto cycling diet. I SMELL BAD! Seriously, my mouth tastes all metallic, my clothes smell like metal after working out and so does my wee. I am too tired for cardio but can manage strength training, I just feel exhausted all the time.
I've lost a lot of weight doing this, but I can't wait to be back on a reasonably low carb, healthy balanced diet again soon. Carbs are not the enemy, as long as they are healthy like wholewheat pasta, rice and bread, and not sugary processed rubbish.0
