I've just seen the 1kg of muscle weighs the same as 1kg fat argument again.
Instead of getting angry, let's have fun.
My puppy <-- weighs the same as Mt. Kilimanjaro, because 1kg of puppy weighs the same as 1kg of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

1 kilogram of kilograms weighs the same as 1 kilogram of pounds0

What weighs more; a pound of bricks or a pound of feathers?
here's another one,
my @$$ weighs the same as the moon based on your puppy/Mt. Kil comparison
At least it's not the same as Jupiter!...... wait....0 -
You are not the wisest of posters here.
1kg of fat = 1kg of muscle
in other words, a balancing scale will balance and not tip one way or the other.
ps - it is "weighs"0 -
The difference is density, that is all.0

Thank you.
I thought it was basic common sense.0 -
a pound is a pound - BY WEIGHT.
a pound is NOT a pound - BY VOLUME
instead of comparing muscle and fat, replace with feathers and bricks. A pound of feathers weighs exactly the same as a pound of bricks. BUT, if you measure the same by volume, the feathers will take up WAY more space than the bricks.
Someone wise said this is another thread.0 -
Lol, the OP is being sarcastic. He knows that a kg equals a kg.
I'll play: 1 kg of poop equals 1 kg of roses. Only difference is aroma.

A 1000 lb unicorn weighs the same as 1000 lbs of "magic weight loss pills" but neither one really exists...

I actually saw a good analogy of this at the gym. 5 lbs of fat equals 3 large grapefruits whereas 5 lbs of muscle is like 3 small oranges. Of course they weigh the same but are more dense and compact.0

Does a Kg by any other name, weigh as much?? Wow, that's deep!! ;-)~0 -
Weight and mass are different things. And judging by posts I've read across the forums, there seem to be a lot of massive idiots. Love you!0

Carrots have the same caloric content as Butter, because 1 cal of butter = 1 cal of carrots0

I personally love this debate because both answers are correct.
1 kg of feathers weighs the same as 1kg of lead. This is accurate.
However - normal people understand the implied "equal volume", which allows them to say muscle weighs more than fat, accurately.
If we're using examples .. Imagine 2 arms - same bone structure, same measurements. One arm belongs to a guy with 35% body fat. One arm belongs to a guy with 15% body fat.
Which weighs more?
This is what allows us to say that muscle weighs more than fat. we ALL understand that what people are actually saying is "muscle is more dense than fat and therefore it weighs more than a similar volume of fat." ...0 -
Actually, their weight depends on how far each is from the center of the earth and/or a massive body. . so. . in actual fact your puppy probably weighs more than Mt. Kilimanjaro, since the base altitude of Kilimanjaro is over a mile above sea-level (unless your puppy is also more than a mile above sea level).0

1 pound of rocks on the moon weigh as much as 1 pound of 8 track players on earth! Fun fun!0

On the moon, I weigh 26 lbs.
On Mars, I weigh 60 lbs
On Venus, I weigh 145 lbs
On Jupiter, I weigh 378 lbs
On Pluto, I weigh 10 lbs
On Saturn, I weigh 146 lbs
On Uranus, I weigh 142 lbs
I hope they have MPF on Jupiter... that place is rough... and windy, I hear. Also, I bet my vert jump might actually be impressive on Pluto (I know it's not a planet anymore ).
On Mercury, I weigh
On Neptune, I weigh0 -

You would be surprised how many "normal" people are speaking of "weight" when make the following statement:
"muscle WEIGHS more than fat"
I guess you might be right though, some us are born intelligent/0 -

Lorraine, you are my density!0
