Can your Body Type change?

I know that your body type plays a big role in your general shape and the way you carry your weight, but can it change after something like childbirth?

Before I had my son, I was certain I was an hourglass. I had a very defined waist line that was inches different from my stomach. My hips and shoulders are about even, though I do think I tend to carry more weight in my thighs and hips than anywhere else, but I gain weight pretty evenly and most people always guessed that I weighed less than I really did. I usually weighed in around 125-135, but I was very active. (5'4 height). But then even when I started gaining a lot of weight- all the way up to around 160 right before I got pregnant- my stomach was still more or less flat, though a good bit thicker. I still had an hourglass shape. I gained all the way to 230 with my pregnancy and now that I'm back down to 150, my body is different. I have, what I feel, is this HUGE belly. I still have about 30 lbs I want to lose and I've gone back to being a lot more active. Will my body get back to it's regular shape again? Or will I now have a tendency to gain in my belly?

My experience has been yes and no. I am also 5'4". When I was younger and weighed 115, I had a mild hour glass figure, but I don't know the measurements because I didn't think about that then. My weight crept up until last year at 28 I weighed 150. My measurements then were 38-33-38. I was more of an apple shape and I think closer to what you describe at a similar weight. I have lost some weight and now weigh 118. My measurements now are 35-27-36. I'm now back to a mild hour glass figure. Your body shape will probably be different at different weights. If you want that hour glass back, you'll probably need to get down to where you were before. Although I am back to around the same size I was before I was pregnant, my stomach is not as pretty. I guess that is the price some of us pay for reproduction.
