I started eating better last December. At first I only ate what I made or brought from home and for the most part that works, but every single winter I get soup cravings. I start dreaming of hot bowls of soup to warm me up and fill me up. Now I could make the soups, and do, bring them to work, and microwave them, but generally I find that I'm making 10 to 12 servings of soup at one time and I have a small freezer and like variety. I also don't want to compete with the whole office using the one microwave. So the soups I make last for months with me eating one to two servings a week. This winter it was pasta e fagoli (good but not worth a repeat) and white bean turkey chili (really good!)
So, within a month of the new diet for life I started walking the distance to the cafeteria, getting the 1000 steps up and back, and getting myself a 12 oz bowl of soup each day. They only feature one soup a day, but it varies so much that it can be 2 weeks to a month before any one type repeats.
I've found that I really love when they feature a chili! Red bean and beef chili, turkey chili like today, white bean and chicken chili, and all the other variations. Because of their spiciness they take me twice as long to eat as other soups and since I eat one spoonful and then drink water after it, I down 24 oz of water with each 12 oz bowl. Eating it that slowly also means that I'm filled when I'm done eating it. It's high in protein and lasts well into the afternoon before I start getting even a little hungry again.
I'm going to stop my soup habit soon, because as it gets warmer, my mind turns to fresh fruits and vegetables from the farmer's markets rather than warm soups, but my new love of chili will remain and be waiting for me next winter.

I've got a white bean and chicken chili recipe that I really like. Does anyone have any other really good chili recipes that I could use next winter?
