Hey everyone!!
I thought that maybe if I blogged about it, i might feel better... i am two weeks into my diet. Ive been working out every morning and I feel great!! I stepped on that scale the first time on Sunday and lost 7 pounds! It was a victory and i of course was thrilled... but now its only like 3 days later and I am soooo dieing to get on the scale to see whats going on. I dont even know why, its just like I am obsessed with seeing any little improvement or not any at all. How do you go about staying away from the evil number box?

If you can get on the scale and have no emotion about the number then go right ahead and get on. But if you're gonna get depressed in anyway if the number isn't what you want then do not step on! I'm always for weighing yourself everyday. Clothes can shrink/stretch, a size 14 at one store could be what an 18 is at another. You can always put the tape measure in a different place then you did before. You can't go by what you see in the mirror because what you see may be skewed due to how you feel that day. The absolute only thing that isn't gonna lie to you is the scale. Yes there's water weight and muscle mass to factor in and your weight WILL fluctuate but out of all the options (other than body fat %) it's the most reliable IMO.0

I can't stay away either . . . but I also don't take a whole lot of stock in the number unless it is my weekly comparison date. I have realized that due to water, etc, I tend to fluctuate within about 4 lbs (my husband double that!) so Im never too worried about my sneaks-to-peek on it here and there.0

I just do it! I have to .. it's a big ol' thing .. my parents gave it to me, it's a real doctor scale ..it's not like I can just hide it. But that is what I suggest for you, hide it somewhere where it's hard to get to, or have one of your family members hide it. Your weight fluctuates so much during the week, and you don't want to step on it and be dissapointed and discouraged, not saying you will ..but it does happened. So just forget about it!
Here is an article one of my friends posted earlier on Facebook ..

My advice is if you can handle looking at your weight going up and down with the fluctuations without getting upset then go ahead and get on. This is EXACTLY how I have sabotaged myself many times over and that is why this time I have told myself that I WILL NOT get on the scale EXCEPT once a week on Saturdays which is my weigh in day!!! I have kept the promise to myself for three weeks straight and I don't plan on breaking this one rule.
What I used to do in the past was weigh myself every other day and the reason why I wanted to do it that way was so I could see where I was at and my progress but when I would see my weight go up even a half a pound it would upset me to the point where I would binge eat because I essentially was thinking "What is the point". I had to learn the hard way so if you are a very emotional person when it comes to your weight and you know you can't handle it then DON'T DO IT!! Just my advice0 -
I weigh myself most every morning before breakfast. I know whether I've eaten well or not and whether I've exercised or not or had a lot of salty foods or drank excess water, etc. All the things that could affect the number on the scale. So I get on each morning because any little loss is motivating and a slight gain is no big deal, I know weight fluctuates so I don't stress over it but if I start seeing a pattern of it being up for several days in a row by much and I think I've been doing good then I start looking over what I've been doing to see if I've been eating too much salt, not enough water, too many sugary snacks or whatever. I think as long as you don't become obsessive if it goes up a bit here and there and you use it as a motivational tool then I think it's fine....step on lady (and then share your success with us!)0

I find it useful to see how my weight fluctuates daily. I've been weighing myself daily from the beginning and I use it to see what is and isn't working for me. I can tell on days where I've eaten too much sodium or didn't drink enough water. I just don't let myself get discouraged if the number isn't moving, I use it as motivation to work harder to get it to move down again.0

Yea I lean towards the negative so I think its better for me to stay away from it. I just wish I could purge the urge to jump on it, lol. Thanks everyone!0

I weigh myself 2x a week......so basically every 3-4 days. Keeps me accountable. I say do it if you won't get mad if the # is not what you want.0
