Start by tracking everything you eat. See where you're at with your diet. Once you have a couple of days logged, you can see how much adjustment you want to make. Adjust slowly.
Set a modest goal of 1/2 lb per week weight loss to start if you've been gaining until this point. Eat whatever you like and try and stick to the calorie goal you are given.
Start exercising - even if only walking (It's great exercise!) - and log the time/speed. Eat back those exercise calories.
Once you're logging daily and exercising 3-5 times per week, consider increasing your protein intake deliberately towards about 1g per pound of lean body mass (or estimate at .8g per pound of body weight).
Drink lots of water.
Focus on getting 5-10 servings of fruits & veggies each day in a variety of colors.
That's where I'd start... once you're comfy with that, consider increasing the rate at which you'd like to lose to maybe 1lb/week and find ways to cut a few more calories each day. Find new recipes. Try new sports. Enjoy your new life! :bigsmile:0 -
I went into Keto whole hog and haven't looked back. I was REALLY skeptical at first, but after 7 months of meat, I got my blood tested at my annual physical and everything was PERFECT. Cholesterol, heart rates, blood pressure, all that stuff. The only thing was that I was a bit deficient in D vitamins but that's probably because I have an office job.0

I didn't ease into it. It was a new years resolution. Now 4 months later I am down over 20 pounds and feeling great. Tips ?? Eat those veggies and drink the water. It really does help. Log everything. Don't cut your calories down too low or you are setting yourself up for failure. You can read thousands of entries on here with people crying about only eating 1000-1200 calories and working out like crazy and not losing weight. The reason is because they are only eating 1000-1200 cals and working out . Their body is fighting them and they will probably lose (the battle, not the weight). Good luck on your journey. You can do it.0

I started by making a decision to eat less, I had no idea how to count calories, or even what calories were (in the context of how many I spent each day). Like great, that pizza slice has 300 calories in it.. and that means what to me, it's delicious and cheezy..
I lost 5 pounds over 8 months. Not very woot worthy. Hired a trainer and started counting calories, and got serious about my calorie cut. I learned that you can't outwork a *kitten* diet. You can work out all you want, but unless you un-eat, you won't lose much. Working out made me hungrier too, so when I wasn't counting, I was upping my calories on my workout days..0 -

I chose to eliminate sweet drinks from my diet and fast food. I picked an exercise that I could reasonably do daily, at least twenty minutes. I swim.
Now I also journal and I swim an hour a day. It's becoming a set of good habits. I live with a big eater, so that is a challenge, but I am hanging in there with the support from the people here.
