After high school and a 7 year stint with semi-pro hockey life became sedentary. I had to get a 'real' job and it was all work and not much else except for the weight gain. I remember looking at old pictures of myself on the ice and then looking in the mirror and saying to myself what the heck happened. Since then I tried every FAD out there. They ultimately don’t work, If they worked I wouldn’t be here now. I needed a lifestyle change and needed to be in better shape for my job (My uniforms started not to fit) and my family. What started it off:
On Christmas Day morning 2012 my 4 yr. old climbed into my bed, patted me on the stomach and said," Daddy will you always have a big belly". This wasn’t the first time he did this, but I vowed it to be the last. I found this site's phone app that night and started the next morning. I am aiming to lose 100 lbs by Christmas Day 2013. I started tracking my food and eating healthier ever since. Yes, there have been some ups and downs like I'm sure everyone has had (Birthday Parties, Holidays...etc.) but I have just passed the midway point, I am down 51 lbs. One day I will get back on the ice and be able to teach my son how to play.
My Plan:
1750-2000 calories a day meal plan
2.5-3 mile walk 4 times a week for some cardio
Light resistance training 3 days a week (nothing crazy just a few simple exercises)
The biggest help for me to keep on track: Every other Saturday night I allow myself to eat whatever I want for dinner. I call it my 'Cheat Night'. It actually seems to trick my metabolism and makes for a better weight loss.
If anyone wants to talk about ideas, menus or just needs an ear please feel free to add me.
