Happy anniversary !!!
Many thanks for posting this. I started maintenance in february but the weight keeps going down because I find it difficult to switch my mindset to : I do this because I am to be fit and healthy not to loose weight anymore. It has slowed down in the past 3 weeks though and I am hitting a higher calorie range. But like in your first year of maintenance. I am a little obsessed over food logging. It makes it much easier to understand how my body works now.
Anyway I am really grateful that you share this.
I wish you many many more happy years of happy weight

Love your blog post!
" I used to say I just exercised for the extra calories I needed to confidently consume wine and chocolate." LMAO
Congrats on all the hard work!0 -
thank so much, both of you---glad this was helpful. Good luck to you both on maintaining!0

I just wanted to go back to this post and note I just did an experiment where I stopped logging for the last few months and guess what???
Not good!
It wasn't out of control, but definitely if I go any further without numbers, it will be. I think logging for the long haul, back to what works, is the way to go....0 -
Nice post.
I have been "maintaining" for 9+ years now. Like you said, I've been up or down a few pounds, but not looking/trying to lose any more. I do strive to continue improving my fitness level though.
There are times when getting ready for vacation, for example, I will hunker down and do a 2 week "diet", but for the most part I just live life. I do still log, 80-90% of the time, but I don't obsess. There is a difference.
Maintenance is just moving on with life!0 -

I love this attitude, thanks for your comment. That's probably a good idea to do before vacation--I hadn't thought of that. And actually my no-logging was going fine until vacation, when suddenly the food-level went up and I think I had a hard time reverting back to normal levels after the fact..... congrats on maintaining for 9 years!!!0 -
After 2 1/2 years of maintenance and faithfully logging, I stopped. I was traveling a lot and had to eat out in restaurants for every meal.
BAD IDEA. Failure to log contributed to a 10 pound weight gain that seemed to materialize overnight. I'm back to logging and eating in a deficit. The weight is slowly coming off and I am in control.0 -

Amazing---looks like we are lifers. Sometimes it takes a little time off to realize what we already knew, eh??0 -

thanks!!! this was in May but the thread keeps going thankfully still maintaining now and learning new things about how we need to adapt so much because there are so many changes that can happen when you "maintain".
You certainly wouldn't think that, would you? So true though....0
