Help with TDEE

I've only been on MFP for a few months but I've been trying hard. Before I heard about TDEE I stuck to the 1200 calorie plan. I lost about 11 pounds but then plateaued. I googled weight loss and saw lots of info about TDEE so I figured I would try it. Based on my calculations I should eat about 1600 calories a day but I'm struggling. I've been eating about 1400 calories a day for about a week (I'm having a hard time eating 1600 calories but I'm trying) and I have gained over a pound! It's so disheartening. I really want to go back to eating 1200 calories because it did work for about a month and I only have six pounds to go but I know that might not be the safest thing to do. What I'm wondering is for those if you who do TDEE did you gain at first? If you did how long did it take you to lose it? I'm just so tired of trying so hard and then failing. Any help would be very appreciated! Thank you!!!
