I only count my PR's that took place at a race, but curious if other use their times from training runs as their PR?

I don't really track PRs... but I will watch/compare times from similar courses (be it races or training) to check my progression, make sure I'm still getting faster. Courses are sooo different that it's unrealistic to compare times from 1 course to times from another, be it training work or races.

I care far more abotu what I'm currently running (7.5mm, 9mm, whatever) than I do any singular finishing time.

Great points for both of you, thanks for your input.

I only count races. But if you PR in training, that's a great sign that it's time to sign up for a race -- most people are faster when they have the adrenaline of competition!

If someone asks I'll give them my race PR time and then say "but I ran XX:XX in training." I use my training PR's just to measure progress. My two fastest 5K times have been in my neighborhood.

If someone asks, I'll give a race PR. Road races, not trail. I do track training times though to see how I'm progressing.

I'm the same as some of the other posts... I really only "keep track" of my race PRs, but I run the same training routes a lot (I live in a small town where there aren't many running options), so I keep an eye on my pace and my finishing times for training runs just to make sure that I'm still progressing.
