Eating Out

How do you guys handle going out to eat for dinner? What if it's impromptu? Or you can't find a calorie count?

    Common Sense stuff
    1. Don't pick on the bread basket/chips
    2. Order grilled/baked
    3. stay away from creamy/cheese sauces
    4. Get grilled lean meats
    5. Have a salad to start
    6. Ask for a to go bag right away and put half of your meal in there right away
    7. If you are worried about carbs ask for double veggies.
    8. have broth soup over cream ones.

^ Basically that. And don't be afraid to ask about how the food is cooked or request it to be cooked a different way.

A little research goes a long way here. If possible, I check the menu before I go so that I have an idea of what to avoid. If that's not possible or I'm not sure, I try to eat something that I know to be generally healthier (e.g. avoid deep fried) and don't eat the entire portion (try to save 1/2 for lunch the next day). I try to drink more water than I normally would and to focus on the conversation rather than the food; savor the experience.
