Convict Conditioning experiences

MFP,
This has probably been asked before but as I can not seem to find a convenient search function on the forums I'm inclined to simply ask it again.
I have recently come across a body weight fitness program by the name of Convict Conditioning. I'm about half way through the book and it sounds interesting. My thoughts are is it too good to be true. So I come to you, my loyal fitness experts, seeking anyone who has tried this program. Success, failure, mediocrity, what was your experience? I am planning on starting on Monday, this weeks' fitness routine already all but completed, yet would like to know if it were not a waste before dedicating thirty plus weeks to it.
Many thanks and best regards,
S,

I'm an out of shape 58 year old woman who is thinking of convict conditioning. Anyone care to share their experiences or recommendations?0

I've read the book and started the program, at the beginning level, last week. I started at the very beginning level because I have been having some shoulder pain and I thought this would be good therapy. Also, I'm in no hurry.
I'm actually kind of surprised at how strenuous exercises like vertical pushups and shoulder stand squats can be when done slowly for 20 reps.
I'd love to get to where I can do one arm freestanding handstand pushups but I know that at my age (55) thats pretty unlikely. In any case it seems like a good regular full body strength and flexibility training routine.0
