Coasting towards maintainance eating

I have enjoyed great success using MPF and have shed 135 pounds in 8 months. As I close in on my goal weight of 200 pounds (5 ft 11 tall male) I am going to make some changes. For months I have set my daily calorie intake at 1400. Starting next week I will increase it to 1800 and coast into my last 30 pounds of loss as I get ready to maintain. This is a nervous time adding calories after enjoying constant success at 1400 cals but I don’t want to shoot past the goal and then have to slam on the breaks to figure out how to stop losing so I thought I would increase the calories a little at a time.
Adding 400 cals a day is like adding another meal since that is the amount per meal I have been eating. I will try this out for a couple weeks to see the effects and then regroup. I will adjust my settings and goals here in my profile.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this plan? Sure, it would be nice to stay with the current plan and reach the weight loss goal faster but then I think the change would be too great trying to figure out how to stop losing weight. (never thought that would be a concern) so I thought this would be a more reasonable approach. The added calories will continue to be good lean proteins and fruits and veggies and healthy fats.

First of all, great job on the weight lose.. As for the maintaining, just willl have to play with for a few weeks. You might need more, or less. Good luck, and be HAPPY.....0

Congratulations on all of your success! I recently upped my cals too and I was given some excellent advice .... add them in slowly. 100 more / week and allow your body to adjust to the change. It's worked for me. Wishing you continued success!0

Thanks, I don’t know what my maintenance calories will end up being but lets says is 2000 cals a day, I didn’t want to go from 1400 a day to a immediate switch from 1400 as I thought that might be a tough transition so I thought I would coast or ease into transition by making this move to increase my calories for a few weeks to evaluate to see its effects. Losing weight is pretty straight forward, finding the right calories to maintain this loss is going to be more difficult than losing weight.0
