Hi there

I'm currently on the look out for a squat rack. I've come across one from Argos (I'm UK based) and would like to know whether this squat rack would be ok for me?

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/SQUAT+RACK.htm#pdpFullProductInformation

I plan on doing NROL4W later on in the year and although a power rack would be ideal I have limited space and limited funds!

Can any of you lifters out there advise?

Thanks in advance.

Looks fine. As long as it goes high enough so you can get your position under the bar. Just make sure its sturdy when you put it up. I use one similar at the gym at the fire station

Looks decent enough, especially considering your situation.

The biggest drawback looks to be that you can't adjust the height, which may or may not be a problem for you.

If the bar is racked too high/low, you're probably going to run into some problems.

The height is adjustable--you can see additional holes in the larger pics.

Ah, yeah, I didn't notice that. OP, it is reasonable for a woman to expect to be able to squat 1.5 times her body weight after serious training. Many manage more than that, but 1.5 is a good goal. This rack is okay for someone who weighs about 145 lb (~65 kg) and hopes to work up to squatting 220 lb (~100 kg), but not more than that.

The front pegs are adjustable yeah, but the main catch is static.

I'm just guessing here, but I imagine the (adjustable) front pegs aren't meant to be taking a lot of weight. In the demo pics the guy is using them as a catch (which is what I imagine they're for on this model).

Buy if it's cheap enough that you won't mind throwing it out when you need to upgrade one or two years from now. It's Ok for a complete beginner but when the weights start getting really heavy you're going to want something more substantial. But that's a way to off, so this is a fine place to start.

There are no safety bars I would not buy one without them.

i kinda see squat rack and wrongly presumed it was a guy.....100kg more than enough and these things would always be fit for more anyway :)
