Dirty Girl Mud Run!

I can't believe we did it!! We completed the 5k Dirty Girl Mud Run with 15 obstacles! My gym partner and I started a wicked workout program called TNC(TRX, nutrition and cardio) February 1st to prepare us for this run. TNC took us out of our comfort level with many new strength training exercises and cardio that pushed us to the point of being nauseous at times. We are on a diet program that limits our sodium to 1100 mg, no red meat, no potatos, rice or pasta. We do get 1 cheat day a week. We did the best we could with the food restrictions, as we really do enjoy food. We have both lost over 60 lbs in 2 years but since January we have lost over 20 lbs each and I have lost over 20 inches!

When May 4th came around, we felt prepared but still nervous about what we would face. Our goal was to run, when we the terrain would allow us and to make it through all 15 obstacles. We did just that! We were covered from head to toe in mud but so happy and proud of ourselves. Two years and 60 plus pounds ago, we could never have done it. All of hard work had paid off!

Now that big goal has come and gone, I hope I can still work as hard at the gym and eat right. I have to be honest and say that I feel I have lost a little bit of the momentum I had going and it scares me. This is the first time in 20 yrs that I have not been yo-yo-ing with my weight and I don't want to ever go back. I am still doing the TNC at the gym but I am going to modify the diet a bit. I figure if I have a few more friends with the same goals it might help me stick with it as I still have at least 40 more lbs to lose.

I need to set another goal! Perhaps the Tough Mudder for next spring!

So proud of you and the girls!!! You can do anything you set your mind to do. I too am worried about the progress I have made.I don't want to slide back into the yo-yo diet thing ever again. If we stick together and help each other like we have I think we will all reach our goals and maintain our weight loss.
