Calories unknown?

In about a month I'm going out to celebrate graduation and planning on eating and drinking a bit. I'm still going to try to keep it within my daily calories, or slightly over if any at all, since one day of over 1200 won't kill me.

The question? What do you do when you don't know the calories in something? The place I want to go to doesn't have nutritional information and I'm having a hard time finding any kind of information about it online.

This, after reading so many labels you should have a general idea.

being a smart *kitten* you can say that 20% of alcohol calories are burned off due to the fact it is metabolized as a toxin rather than being able to be stored.

Calculate your food intake in your head and slap on 300 calories due to the unknown amount of oil/fat added

Estimate. It's a special day though, just say fck it IMO. As long as you don't eat an insane amount doubtful you'd eat that much more than your maintenance, or enough to gain a pound if you're this thorough

    you are right

    its your gradauation party.

you need to eat 3500 calories over your daily requirement(past metabolism of the macros) to gain a TRUE pound of fat.

Try to take reasonable portions. Buffets and things like that will generally cut/set out "one serving" for their portion sizes (desserts, rolls, etc), and the large serving spoons - maybe about 1/2 cup or so depending on where you go. If it's homemade, then you might be stuck eye balling it. Though a few things might still be portioned out (muffins/cupcakes, strips of bacon, hot dogs, etc).. Look up the item to log it, and just do your best approximation. If you've been logging for a while, you probably have a good idea of what a serving should look like by now.

Just do your best, and try not to go overboard. Most importantly, when you fell satisfied, STOP! Fill up on the stuff you know is good for you first, like veggies and fruits if it's available. Stay away from the chips and high-fat dressing/dip. Then go for your meats/protein, and some more fiber to help fill you up. Drink water with your meal to help satisfy your cravings, and to avoid empty calories. Then choose one reasonably sized dessert.

If you're lucky and you're at a home-prepared party, pull the host aside for a moment if you can and just let them know you're watching your calories - they might even let you scan a few barcodes here and there when necessary if they're willing to support you.

Drinking - if you mean alcohol, ummm....pick your absolute favorite, and have half a shot, lol.

Estimate and avoid things that come in sauces.
