I hate exercising for the sake of exercising as well, but I can kayak fish all day and play full court basketball for hours and enjoy every minute.

i feel like you can blame everything on genetics, and it doesn't change anything. i hear it all the time at family reunions- "I'm fat because of my genetics." except that person is usually directly related to someone who is normal-sized, so clearly something other than genetics is involved. now it's going to be "I'm lazy because of genetics." even assuming that that is the case, you're still overweight and no one is going to hold your hand and MAKE you exercise.

So don't exercise. If all you want is to be smaller, you can accomplish it by eating less. Exercise will make you look better and live longer, but that's not for everyone (and is also genetic to some extent) so you might as well give up now.

The brain's reaction to exercise is indeed partly determined by genetics. Some people might get a thrill from endorphins after exercise while others find it really painful, like myself. Yet research found that by listening to music, people can relieve some of the pain and extend endurance.

Personally, I don't exercise. I have asthma and I really have difficulty breathing. But I plan on exercising when I lose more weight (it would be easier).
You don't have to exercise to lose weight, reducing calories is good by itself. Exercise however is essential for toning your body!
    It's your decision.

You don't have to like it. You just need to do it, or live a life that's more active.

QFT. I do loads of things every day because they are necessary to my continued existence. Deal with it.

It totally depends on whether my body is aware it's 'exercise' or not. I love dance classes that can work the hell out of a body from toes to your smile and all parts in between, I hate aerobics because it's repetitive and boring. If my mind and body is learning something useful and fun, it ceases to be exercise.

So while I hate exercise, I love learning new things and teaching my body to do new moves and how to lift, carry, hold better and stronger.

Perspective. Always. You can change that and it will always have an effect.

that makes sense from a biochemical point of view. but I'm not sure what evolutionary advantage such a gene would have or how it would pan out for people who have that gene in the palaeolithic era

cavewoman 1: oh my days do we really have to walk over all those hills to get to the forest just for berries? Can't we stay closer to the cave and gather mushrooms instead?

cavewoman 2: no I'm sick of mushrooms. you can stay by the cave and gather mushrooms if you like but i'm not sharing my berries with you

cavewoman 1: oh but I like berries :( but I hate walking :(

cavewoman 3: well hurry up and decide which one you hate the most, walking or not eating berries when everyone else is

caveman 4: and we'll be getting lots of other foods along the way which we can eat while you're eating just mushrooms

cavewoman 1: okay. I'll come with you :(

caveman 1: hunting again?? i hate hunting!

caveman 2: well after I nearly got gored by that woolly rhino last time because you were supposed to have my back but you didn't, then maybe we don't want you to come hunting with us anyway

caveman 3: yeah you can go get berries with the women

caveman 1: what, and walk over all those hills?? my legs, back and shoulders still hurt from helping to carry that bison back home last time we went hunting.

caveman 4: well if you don't help get the food and bring it back, no-one's going to share any of it with you.

caveman 1: life is full of difficult choices... :(
