As i sit on the bike in the gym with an array of data flashing before me i ask myself if there is a formula for turning bpm into calories burnt--the bike seems erratic on how it calculates things---i use to be an accountant and like formulae!!--i dont want to buy a gadget because im tight and enjoy number crunching--it burns calories lol

A heart rate monitor would be most beneficial as it can calculate how hard your body is working by your heart beat. Once these are set-up for your body they seem to be quite accurate.

If you do get one just make sure it is one with a strap, the cheap ones without are pretty poor at working it all out.

I didn't want to spend the money, but I did. Buy a heart rate monitor.

there is one snag--i should think the only monitor like that would be plugged in at a hospital!. where i live people are not into the health and leisure thing--gym membership is for the wealthy to network-i am the only one who ever dares to break sweat! --i will get one this summer when i go home to the uk if you say they are worth it.--whats the approximate cost?
