Start off by just walking. Bigger people have bigger calves usually so u will get great results from even bodyweight calf raises. Then maybe get a gym membership and start lifting(squats etc). Good luck and remember we all started somewhere.0

Sista, you gotta get moving!! Low weight and a whole lot of reps on the calf raise thing switch around back to front machine. Finish with 2 hours on the elipical to burn off any free flowing residue carbs that have gathered on your calves and your halfway there to fab summer ready legs babe!!!0

I used the Fluidity Bar!! It gave me the long, lean calves of a dancer and it only took 6 weeks, even tho when I started I had 60 pounds to lose!
I used a contraption rather like that one because I wanted to make my calf muscles longer and leaner, and my shin bones grew an entire three inches, and so my calf muscles became longer too. And what's more, my BMI went from the overweight range to the healthy range, because, you know, I'm three inches taller now.0 -

Perhaps you should look up what toe raises are before you get your panties in a twist. Not sure why you're working under the assumption that every comment is meant to be rude when people are just trying to help.
FYI, toe raises are when you stand on your toes on the edge of something (a stair step will usually do) and move your heels up and down. Go slow and count high. Add weights if you're feeling really ambitious. Be prepared to not be able to walk normally for a few days afterwards.
They are also commonly known as calf raises, as they work, you know, your calves. Which is what you wanted to work. Some people call them toe raises because you are standing on your toes.
Also, all the people insisting that calves are purely genetic should check mine out. There's genetics in there somewhere, but there's also a lot of running, toe raises, and rock climbing involved. They're the most toned and sexy part of me, and nobody else in my family has anything like them.0 -

Op, thanks for posting this thread . I always like threads like this where I learn stuff!
Today I learned that you can use soup cans to spot reduce, that a yoga mat attached to a bar can create results in as little as six weeks, and that humans can change their genetics with a degree in biology!! That all sound sooo much easier than regular weight training and doing silly TDEE calculations! Who knew?:flowerforyou:0 -

I don't mean this to sound...um...mean, but why are you waiting till NOW to decide you need to improve your calves for summer? If you had started 6 months ago, you would be ready.
The best calves I ever saw on anyone was a guy I used to date....he was an avid hiker.
Mine look pretty darn good now after a year of using my stationary bike. Cycling works.0 -
