Advice on the Paleo Diet

Hi I just started the Paleo Diet. I am excited, I hope it works for me. I have been counting calories for a year and a half and I only lost 22 pounds. In the past month I have not lost a pound, infact somehow the scale shows that I gained a pound. I could not believe it because i do not cheat. I am allowed a certain calorie range for weight loss and I stay within that range. I read up on some diets and after reading up online about the Paleo Diet it sounded good and healthy, I like how you can have fruit on it and even plaintains. I do not have the book so can somebody give me some tips like how many carbs you should have a day, how many fruits are allowed, can you have canola oil and how much can you expect to lose in a week. I am not very active right now because I had a concussion recently. I was advised to take it easy for a while. I am going to try doing 10 minutes on my minni stepper each day to see how it goes.
